There
are eight kinds of trees in the world, four coniferous and four
deciduous. (Bible, 1En.1Ep.1Er.)
The
Celts give a special worship statute to two different trees: a
coniferous mistletoe and a deciduous hazel. (Encyclopedia Corners,
1En.1Ep.1Er.)
In
Polish, mistletoe is jemioła, and hazel is leszczyna. Four
coniferous trees are in Polish: sosna, świerk (=jodła), jarzębina
(=cis), jemioła (=modrzew). Four deciduous trees are in Polish:
wierzba, brzoza, dąb (=topola), leszczyna (=buk). (Author knowledge)
Mistletoe
is a tree of love. Hazel is a tree of lore. Both have a holy superior
statute among other trees for the Celts. (Encyclopedia World,
1En.1Ep.2Er.)
In
current present time, it is hazel branches which are shown to the
world as mistletoe, and because of that the tradition of kissing
under mistletoe happens in fact under hazel. (Scanner Kyoto, Cont.)
Celts
celebrate mistletoe and hazel through establishing them as main house
trees. If a house wants to be built, it has to be constructed near
one mistletoe and one hazel. Usually these trees are specially
planted on a chosen territory, and the planting must take place
before commencement of house construction. Trees must be grown out of
the ground visibly for at least 10 centimeters before the house
starts to be built. (Encyclopedia Corners)
Mistletoe
and hazel are used by Celts in medicine and in alchemy. Very
important medications are produced from them: mistletoe helps to
fight poison and hazel helps to fight wounds. Also very important
alchemical potions are created from them: mistletoe is the main
ingredient for an elixir of invisibility and hazel for an elixir of
physical strength. These two medications and two potions are of
celtic making and are based on protected celtic recipes.

The
widely known tradition of cutting mistletoe and hazel branches by
druids arose from the fact that druism is an art of architecture and
the cutting is made to gain branches for planting in order to build a
house. This tradition takes place only for the purpose of
constructing houses. (Encyclopedia Blue Branch, 1En.3Ep.3Er.)
Only
houses have to be constructed near mistletoe and hazel, while other
buildings don't. (Encyclopedia Corners)
Mistletoe
and hazel are names for two kinds of art in celtic cultural
tradition. They represent art of love and art of lore. They also are
two names of traditional garments, mistletoe clothes of love and
hazel clothes of lore. These trees are used as symbols for love and
lore widely in all culture of Celts. (Encyclopedia Blue Branch)
The
tradition of kissing under mistletoe does not come from celtism,
however is based on the general symbolics of mistletoe as a culture
of love. (Scanner Kyoto)
Mistletoe
and hazel are not ascribed to any holiday of celtism and are
therefore the main trees of this religion. (Encyclopedia World)
